Years ago, when I was struggling to understand why I felt so stuck in my job, a friend asked me a question that shook my entire reality: “Do you love your job? Or do you want to love it?”
Before that, I hadn’t known how to name what I was feeling. That one question cracked something open. It gave me access to an inner truth I hadn’t been able (or ready) to reach before.
It was a simple question. But it wasn’t an easy one.
Because sometimes what we’re chasing looks good: It might be something others admire. It might be something we’ve told ourselves we should love. It might even make perfect sense on paper.
But truth doesn’t always follow logic. And a powerful moment of realignment often begins by asking: “Do I truly love this? Or am I clinging to the idea of loving it?” “Do I want this, or do I want to want it?”Yes, those questions are scary. They invite honesty, vulnerability and the potential for change. But they also invite alignment.
When we offer ourselves kindness and patience in the listening (especially when we’re afraid of the answer) we create space for our truth to emerge.
The world around us can be so loud with “shoulds.” But our soul? It whispers what’s real.Trust its quiet voice. It knows.
